Exclusive Flixxy Interview with Andrew McMurry: "How did the idea for the film come about?" I've always wanted to make a film that has to do with technology turning on it's owner. Now that Siri has been receiving a lot of hype on the Internet, that fit perfectly with my idea. "Which equipment did you use to shoot the film? " For video, I used a Canon t2i. For sound, I used the Zoom H4n. "How long did it take to shoot and edit?" All in all, about a week. One day to shoot, six days to edit. "Did you use professional actors?" No. The only actors were me and my brother, Nathan. "How big was your budget?" We didn't spend a single dollar making this film. "What is your background in filmmaking?" Basically, I've just been an aspiring filmmaker in Arkansas for about eight years. When I was about fifteen, I taught myself how to add VFX in my films. When I was seventeen, I created my YouTube channel "AndrewMFilms". Now, I'm eighteen and still doing these short YouTube videos for people. "What are your plans for the future?" Not sure yet. I'm going to see where YouTube can take me and look into going to a film school somewhere, since I've never actually had any real film education. "Any advice to budding filmmakers?" When someone tells you what you need to improve, listen to them, rather than blowing them off and getting mad. I wouldn't be where I am today without people telling me what I need to work on. |
