Solar Eclipse - 20 May 2012 (In Case You Missed It)

On May 20, 2012 China and the Western United States saw an "annular" eclipse, the first of its kind since 1994.
An "annular" eclipse is when the moon lines up between Earth and the Sun to create a "ring of fire".
Shot, edited and composed in Redding, California by Cory Poole.

Cory Poole used 700 pictures taken through a Coronado Solar Max 60 Telescope to make his video. The telescope has a very narrow "bandpass", allowing you to see the chromosphere (literally, "sphere of colour" - the second of the three main layers in the Sun's atmosphere, roughly 2000 kilometers deep) and not the much brighter photosphere below it.         Music composed in Abelton Live.
