Music: "One Man's Dream" by Yanni   The map was created by the Sloan Digital Sky Survey III, using a 2.5 meter telescope with sensitive electronic light detectors to systematically map a quarter of the sky, building a catalog of celestial objects. There are 400,000 galaxies in the animation, each galaxy, measuring hundreds of thousands of light years side-to-side. Vast as this slice of the universe seems, its most distant reach is to roughly 1.3 billion light years from Earth.
