Elon Musk says:
"11 years ago today, we launched our first successful mission.
To date, we’ve completed 78 launches and have developed the world’s only operational reusable orbital class rockets
and spacecraft—capable of launching to space, returning to Earth, and flying again."
Starship with the Super Heavy booster is essentially a rocket as powerful as a Saturn 5,
which took NASA’s Apollo astronauts to the moon 50 years ago, but it’s fully reusable.
Two competing teams at SpaceX are each building prototypes of Starship -
one in Florida near Cape Canaveral and the other at Boca Chica in Texas.
What is the difference between sea level and vacuum engines?
Rocket engines work by expelling an extremely hot jet of gas.
This thrust output behaves different when it’s fired at sea level, or fired in a vacuum.
That's why SpaceX uses two versions of the Merlin engine -
one optimised to operate at sea level and the other optimized to operate in space (vacuum).
