Jailhouse Rock is a 1957 musical drama film directed by Richard Thorpe and starring Elvis Presley, Judy Tyler, and Mickey Shaughnessy.  The film is about a young man sentenced to prison for manslaughter who is mentored in music by his prison cellmate who realizes his musical abilities.   The song "Jailhouse Rock" was written by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller.  Rolling Stone magazine included it at number 67 on its list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time and was named one of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll.  In 2004, it finished at number 21 on AFI's "100 Years...100 Songs" survey of top tunes in American cinema.  On November 27, 2016, the Grammy Hall of Fame announced its induction, along with that of another 24 songs.
