(1898 – 1972) was a Dutch graphic artist known for his often mathematically inspired woodcuts and lithographs which feature impossible constructions, explorations of infinity, architecture and mosaic patterns.
Hint: That staircase doesn't exist on 3D except if seen from a certain angle.
The cameras were "creating" the staircase in the way in which they were
positioned. By changing the angle of them, he is able to break away from the
illusion.
