Balloon Captures Amazing Space Photos
Images of the earth captured from the edge of space by a helium balloon travelling 22 miles above sea level.
All it took was a digital camera, a GPS device, some duct tape and a balloon to take some breath-taking pictures of Earth.
The device was developed by Robert Harrison, 38, of Highburton, West Yorkshire, England. He programmed the camera, using free software downloaded from the internet, to take eight photos and a video every five minutes before switching into standby mode. Mr Harrison uses GPS tracking technology to monitor the camera as it automatically parachutes back to earth after reaching the 22-mile high mark.
