A lighting system that requires no electricity for power, but draws CO2 from the atmosphere and uses it to produce light as well as oxygen as a byproduct.
French biochemist Pierre Calleja developed a light that consists of a tube containing micro algae which charges a battery through photosynthesis and in the process absorbs CO2 – up to one ton a year per light. That’s as much as 150 to 200 trees.
