The plane is being flown by Boeing test pilots to show off the power and versatility of the jetliner.
The 737 MAX has improved fuel efficiency and is quieter, with a 40% smaller noise footprint than current single-aisle airplanes.
The 737 MAX first flew on January 29, 2016.
It is scheduled for first delivery in 2017 with launch customer Southwest Airlines.
United Airlines, American Airlines and Ryanair have also placed substantial orders.
