World's First Bicyclist To Reach The South Pole

On December 27th, 2013 at 1 AM GMT Maria Leijerstam becoming the first person to ever successfully cycle from the edge of the Antarctic continent to the South Pole.

Maria used a modified version of the commercially-available Sprint tricycle, made by recumbent cycle manufacturer Inspired Cycle Engineering. 
The 35 year-old British adventurer even arrived ahead of two other cyclists who had started out for the South Pole days before her. 
Maria Leijerstam covered a distance of about 400 miles (644 km) from the edge of Ross Ice Shelf over Leverett Glacier to the South Pole.
